This isn't something Karl-Anthony Towns is going to brag about but on Sunday he became the first player with a 40/20 game in a losing effort since Shaq in 2001.
Towns had a ridiculous 40 points on 17 of 22 shooting to go with 21 boards, 4 assists, a steal and a block in the heart-breaking loss to the Lakers. If you go to the one-minute mark of the following video, you can see how Towns felt about his performance going to waste.
At the age of 21 years and 145 days, Town also became the third youngest player to ever record a 40/20 game. A little younger Anthony Davis did it in 2014 and a 20-year old Shaq had 46 points and 21 boards back in 93.
Towns' teammate Andrew Wiggins was also exceptional in the loss with 41 points, while the rest of his teammates scored a total of just 28.
