Zach LaVine was the only person on Sunday that was able to cool down Andrew Wiggins. Then again, considering how thick Wiggins’ ShamWow on his head is, the former Rookie of the Year probably didn’t feel a thing after his red-hot performance in a 26 point victory over the Lakers.
Wiggins connected on 14 of 21 shots and 17 of 22 from the line for a career-high 47 points, which is also how many points the entire Lakers starting lineup had.
“You let a player as good as him get an additional 22 free chances on that, one he’s going to score a lot and two he’s going to get hot because he’s in a rhythm from all the free throws he’s shooting,” Lakers coach Luke Walton said. “We couldn’t really contain him tonight.”
In a season full of mind-blowing Fantasy God stats, the 21-year old 3rd year player is quietly putting up 26.3 points a game (6 more than his previous season), while shooting a career best .479 from the floor and .548 from 3. His free throw % has taken a very small dip (.741 from .761) but he’s attempting a career best 9 a game.
“I think he’s just scratching the surface,” Wolves coach Tom Thibodeau said. “I think he can do a lot more.”
